More than a decade ago, friends in Mumbai and I decided to meet monthly to sample a mutual passion – single malts. Together, we began a journey exploring the wonderful world of whisky – discovering gems, duds, and many in between. Along the way, I became the ‘scribe’ of our sampling encounters and shared these observations first on my other blog Everyday Asia, and then here, on Whisky Lady in India.

• In 2011, a few friends got together in Mumbai and started a small private tasting group – we met monthly, mostly explored “blind” before the reveal. It was an amazing foundation and learning experience! Alas this group disbanded during the COVID years, as many of us moved to different places
• In 2015, I started the Whisky Ladies of Mumbai with the most fabulous women you can imagine! We’re still going strong!
• Then, in 2016, a new group was added to the mix – the Bombay Malt + Cigar club.
• Most years, the ladies and gents come together for an annual shared evening of malty merriment too.
• Beyond that, I would join smaller ‘mini’ sessions, the occasional masterclasses, and special events as well.
• In October 2019, everything changed! My beloved base in Bombay shifted to Nuremberg, Germany, and a new adventure commenced, sparking a “spin-off” Whisky Ladies in Europe as a welcome tasting distraction during COVID times. A few years later, a new Nuremberg tasting group joined my whisky adventures.
