It is time for a malty monthly round-up! Where all the sessions marched in order, one after the other wish a special bonus evening with Malt Maniac Krishna Nakula.
So where did we begin?
The Whisky Ladies took a “Trans Tasman Tour” to New Zealand and Tasmania, Australia:
- Australia – Hellyer’s Road Pinot Noire 46.2%
- New Zealand – Willowbank 10 year Doublewood 40%
- New Zealand – Willowbank 22 year (1989) Barrel No 58 52.8%
- Australia – Sullivan’s Cove Double Cask (2008/2015) 40%
- Australia – Crazy Uncle Moonshine 43%
- Plus a birthday bonus Bowmore 1989 “BBQ Mango Salsa” 46% (Wymess)
Followed the very next evening by the Bombay Malt & Cigar gents exploring whiskies from Japan:
- Hibiki Japanese Harmony “Master’s Select” NAS 43% – A happy “starter” whisky
- Nikka All Malt 40% – What a fabulous malt! Dessert in a glass.
- Miyagikyo NAS 45% – Has a light elegance, with kumquat and white pepper
- Hakushu “Distiller’s Reserve” NAS 43% – Forest green and light peat….
Our original club did a revisit with:
- Johnnie Walker Green Label 15 year 43% – A perfect “gateway” dram to single malts…
- Kavalan Solist Sherry S090608029A 58.6% – Normally this sherry bomb is brilliant – not so this cask. Avoid.
- Kilchoman Machir Bay Cask Strength 60% – Sweet, peat with a bit of bacon sizzling on a pan!

- Amrut Port Pipe Peated 62.8% (LMdW)*
