Ah… September in Nurnberg… a time of cooler evenings, bursts of summery sunshine that slips into fall. In a departure from our Nurnberg’s Whisky Explorer format, just a few of us gathered to share some interesting bottles from our respective whisky cabinets. With such an extended array of offerings, we did not sample all but instead focused on a few that caught our fancy.
So, what did some folks explore?
- Exploration of Canada’s Shelter Point – both the open bottles in Nurnberg and miniatures I brought back from India
- Some also dipped into the Arran Barrel Reserve as a calibration dram
- Those who previously had not sampled the Chorlton‘s explored the Glentauchers and ashy Staoisha
- Even St Kilian was brought out with the Signature Edition One and Four
- And the Amrut Port Piped Peated
As for me? My attention veered to drams not previously sampled:
- Knockando 18 year (1996) Sherry 43% – Woody & fruity
- Glenfarclas (2004/2017) Sherry Casks 59.4% – A proper sherry winters dram!
- The Hearach HE 00009 24 46% – Exploration of a new entry into the world of whisky
- Bowmore 18 year Oloroso Cask WB146494 43% – Felt like a walk down memory lane
It was a lovely relaxed evening with friends. A perfect sharing over an interesting array of whiskies from Scotland to Europe and India.
